Capileira, the gate of Sierra Nevada

Capileira

Located almost an hour from the city of Granada in the Alpujarra Granadina, Capileira will leave you enchanted when you arrive and find a town that has preserved its architecture, culture and gastronomy almost intact over time.

Located at almost 1,500 meters above sea level, the town has multiple viewpoints that will offer you wonderful views of the Poqueira Ravine, among which the impressive panoramic views of Cerro Mulhacén and Picacho Veleta stand out. Likewise, you will be fascinated with its Berber architecture, the irrigation system from its ancient Arab settlers and the terraos; planes specifically built to prevent the erosion of the blue earth that characterizes the region so much.

While you walk towards the Ntra. Señora de la Cabeza Parish Church, its narrow and winding streets, located on the slope of the mountain, will allow you to lose yourself in the town while you delight yourself with the balconies full of flowers and enjoy an unparalleled tranquility .
